Accessibility in Action: Creating ADA-Compliant Course Videos with Captions, Transcripts, and Panopto Accessibility Tools
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 :: 2:00-3:00 PM
Virtual | WebEx
Intended Audience: CMU Faculty
Facilitated by: Phil Coffman
Instructional videos used in active courses should be accessible, accurate, and usable for students. This session will provide practical guidance on making Panopto videos ADA-compliant through captions, transcripts, audio-clarity practices, and Panopto’s built-in accessibility tools.
In this session, faculty will learn which videos to prioritize, how to review auto-generated captions, which errors matter most, and how tools such as the caption editor, low-confidence word review, find-and-replace, transcripts, and caption dictionary can support a manageable accessibility workflow.
