Tuesday, October 13, 2026 :: 10:00-11:00 AM
Park Library | 413
Intended Audience: CMU Faculty
Facilitated by: Gabrielle Likavec and Sarah Learman
Students are increasingly using generative AI tools, often with varying levels of understanding about the ethical, academic, and professional implications of their use. Faculty play a critical role in helping students develop habits of responsible and transparent engagement with these technologies.
In this workshop, participants will explore ways to address AI ethics and responsible use within their courses. Topics include establishing clear expectations, discussing appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI, promoting transparency and attribution, and helping students critically evaluate AI-generated content. Faculty will have dedicated time to review course materials and identify opportunities to incorporate guidance tailored to their disciplinary contexts.
Participants will leave with practical strategies, sample approaches, and revised course materials that support students' ethical and informed use of AI.
