Monday, May 11, 2026 :: 9:00-11:30 AM

Park Library | 413

Intended Audience: CMU Faculty

Facilitators: CIS Staff

Colleges and universities are entering a new era of digital accessibility, with updated Title II requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) placing increased responsibility on institutions to ensure online content is usable by all learners. This workshop introduces faculty to what these requirements mean in practice—and how to meet them with confidence.

Participants will gain a clear, practical understanding of Title II expectations for digital accessibility, including what makes course materials compliant and where common barriers exist in online learning environments. Moving beyond compliance, the session will focus on actionable strategies to create accessible, inclusive course content from the start.

Through real examples and guided demonstrations, faculty will learn how to:
  • Design accessible documents, presentations, and PDFs
  • Create captioned and usable multimedia content
  • Build content effectively in the LMS
  • Identify and fix common accessibility issues efficiently

Whether you are creating a new course or improving an existing one, this workshop will equip you with simple, sustainable practices that support all students—while helping your course meet federal accessibility standards.

No prior accessibility experience is required. Light refreshments will be served.
