Blackboard Course Design: How One Marketing Instructor Achieved Higher Student Engagement and Learning
Friday, April 4, 2025 :: 12:00-1:00 PM
Virtual | WebEx
Intended Audience: Faculty
CMU’s own marketing instructor Michael Garver successfully increased student engagement and learning in his MKT450 course by incorporating interactive elements like instructional videos, individual and team readiness assessment tests (iRat/tRat), and learning feedback loops. When migrating his course from Blackboard Original to Ultra, Mike focused on organizing the content and activities so that students would experience "One Stop Shopping" in an easy to follow platform. In addition, Mike used group and team accountability tools within Ultra to help manage teams and team projects on a weekly basis. Most importantly, the migration to Ultra helped Mike provide weekly feedback on team projects that resulted in improved learning.
In this session, we will explore the challenges Mike experienced with his “old” course, tour his new course layout and setup, and discuss the wins achieved for both him and his students.
Join us for a discussion on the changes Mike implemented in his course and the positive outcomes that resulted.
