After grading is complete, join CIS for a special face-to-face professional development opportunity through the following series of interactive workshops. These sessions will enrich your teaching with strategies for increasing inclusivity and encouraging student participation. We welcome you for the full day or for just the morning or the afternoon. Morning

Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Building Social Presence in the Classroom
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Designed to equip educators with effective strategies for nurturing meaningful relationships in their teaching spaces, participants will explore how to foster a sense of belonging among students, a crucial aspect of inclusive teaching. By emphasizing practical techniques, participants will discuss how to create an environment where student success is cultivated through a strong social presence and a supportive learning community.

Small Changes = Big Impact: How to Engage Students to Make Learning Stick
10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
This session will help participants explore innovative strategies focused on retrieval, prediction, and interleaving to develop a transformative framework for student engagement. Participants will learn how to implement small, impactful changes in their instructional approach that not only make learning more memorable but also foster an environment where students are actively involved in their educational journey, leading to deeper understanding and memorable learning for all students.

You’ve Got This! Making Classroom Materials Accessible
11:30 AM -12:30 PM
By making sure all learners, regardless of ability, have equal access to classroom materials, we are fostering an inclusive learning environment for everyone. In this session, we will learn how to enhance accessibility for your course, including your Blackboard Ultra shell, assessments, and slideshows.

Syllabus Escape Room: An Engaging Approach to the First F2F Class
1:00 – 2:30 PM

Easily Create Animated Videos in the CIS Self-Serve Video Studio
2:30 -3:30 PM
Through AI-powered transitions and new in-studio green screen technology, the CIS Video Studio enables users to add professional animations to presentations, both recorded and virtual, easily. Make your next course intro, assignment overview, or virtual meeting look incredible using the methods covered in this hands-on session.
