Real Time or Recorded: When it comes to engaging students, Lightboard media rocks
Tuesday, March 14, 2023 :: 2:00-3:00 PM
Virtual | WebEx
Intended Audience: CMU Faculty
Facilitated by: Phil Coffman, Sarah Learman
Reported by a large-scale study, 84% of students actively and readily engage in synchronous sessions held in lightboard teaching studios, while only 55% felt engaged during non-lightboard virtual sessions (aligning with similar data focusing on asynchronous recorded media). This webinar will introduce and explore effective uses of the CIS Lightboard Teaching Studio (for both real-time and recorded media) while incorporating an evidence-based instructional perspective from CIS Teaching and Learning Consultant, Dr. Sarah Learman. Whether it’s writing complex equations, conjugating verbs, or annotating diagrams for a live group, you’ll discover best practices and strategies for preparing instructional materials and facilitating your virtual interactions (classroom and otherwise!) using the Lightboard Teaching Studio. This virtual-tour style workshop will demonstrate how instructors can easily field questions from virtual participants and write a response on the lightboard without turning your back.
