Rubrics that are thoughtfully designed can not only enhance grading; they can also assist in identifying collective weaknesses and strengths of the class and reduce the ambiguity around instructor expectations. However, developing rubrics can feel like an arduous task. In this session, we will explore the fundamentals of creating an efficient rubric, analyze rubric examples that align with best practices, and examine supporting resources (e.g., CIS’s Rubric Repository) to help you create rubrics of your own.
