In this interactive session, we will explore methods to establish relevance between course content and life-building skills through assignments and activities designed to encourage professional oral and written communication skills. This session will explore problem-focused assignments, including low-risk writing tasks, Dale Carnegie speeches, role-play, debriefing competitions, and writing activities through journaling, letter writing, and creating a website.
About the series: Regardless of subject matter, life skills can be infused into any undergraduate course, and The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Support wants to show you how! This 3-part series, inspired by Bill Coplin’s (2019) The Happy Professor: How to Teach Undergraduates and Feel Good About It, focuses on our diverse role as educators, andragogical approaches to engaging with Generation Z, and classroom organization that prepares students for careers and citizenship while serving to support their success with course content.
