Open Class - EDU 310WI - Educational Psychology for Secondary Teachers

Monday, October 14, 2019 :: 11:00-12:25 PM

Education and Human Services Building | 213 Classroom

Intended Audience: CMU Faculty

Facilitated by Shane Cavanaugh & Jeremy Bond

This open class is EDU 310WI: Educational Psychology for Secondary Teachers with Dr. Shane Cavanaugh. Visitors to this session may observe student-prepared lightning talks related to cognitive development along with class discussion of theory specific to Lev Vygotsky.

Would you like to see other educators teach? Check out this and other Open Class Concept sessions! We hope to help open a variety of classes each semester to allow CMU educators to observe a range of contemporary pedagogical practices across disciplines, environments, and formats or modalities.

This Is: A “silent” visit to a class facilitated by a faculty “host” who has agreed to participate. You’ll also receive an optional invitation to attend a later breakfast with all Open Class Concept hosts and visitors to ask questions, discuss teaching, network, and lend feedback on the pilot.

This Is Not: A critique or evaluation. Visitors will not offer feedback to the host on teaching. Instead, it is self-referential, helping visitors consider opportunities that may exist within their own teaching practice.

Objective: Participants will observe the teaching of one CMU educator, reflecting on the experience through a four-question survey.
